Abstract
  This paper aims at suggesting a new view-point on the category of honored beings when the {-ｓʌｐ()-} was used in a sentence. One of the strongest hypothesis on the category of honored beings takes the denotation of the object for that category. However there were some exceptions. Middle Korean data show that {-ｓʌｐ()-} was used in some sentences which have no object. And some of them show that the honored being is the denotation of the subject, not the object. In order to identify the category of honored beings when the {-ｓʌｐ()-} was used, this paper applies Thematic-Roles instead of Grammatical-Relations, and concludes that the category of honored beings when the {-ｓʌｐ()-} was used can be categorized as the Thematic Role relatively close to Patient.
