Verb-Frame vs. Satellite-Frame (cf. Talmy 1985)
Verbs-Frame motion verbs
A motion verb in which the path of the motion is included,
A motion verb in which the direction of the motion is included,
A motion verb in which the mean of the motion is included,
... etc., etc.
Satellite-Frame motion Verbs,
The path, the direction, or the mean is expressed by another word or phrase.
These distinction is very basic, and now this field among all the fields of linguistic typology is quite mature.
There are lots of nice works.
